Triple MVP Jokic sustains a 'gut-wrenching' injury to his knee.
Three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Jokic suffered a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets were defeated by a score of 147-123 against the Heat.
The Serbian center injured himself late in the first half following an unintentional contact with fellow Nugget Spencer Jones.
Jones came down on the footwear of the big man, and he immediately collapsed to the floor grabbing his knee.
The 30-year-old, who tops the league this season in boards and dimes, recorded a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game before incurring the setback.
The player is scheduled for an MRI on the following day to evaluate the severity of the injury.
"Immediately, Jokic realized he was hurt," commented Nuggets coach David Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Whoever that is injured, it's gut-wrenching, especially a player as talented as he is. More information will come tomorrow."
"The team will adjust as a team. Clearly, currently, I am focused primarily about him as a person and the frustration of experiencing a situation of that nature."
