Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Eindhoven Loss

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position following another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the belief. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar failings from his Liverpool side in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everybody,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's tough because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side experiencing a period of this nature with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we will always compete.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
