Stateside actor Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has succumbed aged 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles on Monday following cancer treatment from 2022 onward, per reports.

"He never met a stranger - only friends he had yet to meet," his family said in a message.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with zest and passion".

A Prolific Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he appeared as the lead character's sibling.

He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, portraying a party host who would assign tedious tasks to his guests.

During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, including:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House

He was most recognized for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His work in movies encompass It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his on-screen roles, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was a member of a comedy group of six named Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A wonderful father and man," he shared on social media.

The actor is survived by his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
